The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, is a collection of 17 objectives. It’s an urgent call to action for all countries by the United Nations to end poverty, protect the environment, and promote peace and prosperity by 2030.
In 2015, the goals were adopted by all UN Member States, setting out a 15-year plan to achieve the goals. However, progress to meet the goals has not reached the level required. Simply put, more needs to be done to tackle growing poverty, empower women and girls, and address the climate crisis.
At Green Moves, we believe everyone needs to do their part to support the UN SDGs and at a minimum, help contribute to keeping the planet’s temperature at a habitable level.
Green Moves is passionate about protecting our environment and being the best we can be. Here’s how we support and contribute to the UN SDGs
Goal 3: Good health & well-being
Green Moves promotes the uptake of non-toxic building materials and products that contribute to better indoor air quality. This assists in reducing respiratory and other related illnesses. We also encourage good natural light, natural ventilation and ease of movement throughout buildings which contributes to well-being.
Goal 4: Quality education
We work with The Green Building Institute, a leading online green building education provider, to provide education for building trades, property professionals and consumers in efficient sustainable building.
Green Moves also provides consumer education sessions for government organisations, residents and businesses on the uptake of energy-efficient practices and renewable energy. This includes teaching some of the National Training Courses such as Cert IV in Home Energy Efficiency & Sustainability as well as some business qualifications.
Goal 7: Affordable & clean energy
Green Moves promotes clean and renewable energy through our consumer education and assessment reports. Our offices are powered by onsite renewable energy (3.15kW solar PV system) and 100% certified green power.
Goal 9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure
Green Moves contributes to industry and innovation by being the first to create the first Sustainability in Commercial Real Estate training course for the real estate industry.
Goal 11: Sustainable cities & communities
We promote sustainable practices for businesses, householders, the building and property industry and government organisations to influence more efficient, healthier and cleaner environments.
Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production
